A day of training in Community Organising from Citizens UK (the people behind the Real Living Wage campaign) about the principles and practice of Community Organising. This is a whole day's training and includes refreshments (lunch not provided).
Community Organising is based on the principle that when people work together they have the power to change their neighbourhoods, cities, and ultimately the country for the better. We work with people who want to transform the world, from what it is to what they believe it should be. To do this we listen to our members, asking them about their concerns and developing strategies to improve our communities. We ensure that civil society is at the negotiating table alongside the market and state, so that our communities are included in the decisions that affect them.
Who's it for?
For those who want to understand the method of broad-based community organising and apply the practical skills of community leadership to take action for social justice in their locality and, if applicable, strengthen their institution in the process.
What will I leave with?
As with all Citizens training, this course will equip you to turn your learning into action that makes a difference at local level, and you will leave with a bespoke plan to do this.We particularly recommend this course for those who want to:
deepen their understanding of community organising and what it means to be part of a Citizens alliance;
develop core community organising leadership skills such as 1-2-1 relational meetings, storytelling, power analysis, campaign strategy, action-planning and negotiation skills;
equip themselves to lead change in their community.
