‘Old McDonald and the Three Pigs Plus…’ weaves the well-known story of the Three Pigs with the easy to learn rhyme Old McDonald Had A Farm. Featuring a 5m wide book with 2m pop ups, bright colourful pages and lots of silly animal props.

The Three Pigs are fed up with singing “Eee aye eee aye oh!” every day and bravely decide to move away from Old McDonald’s farm. Join the kind farmer and all of their animal friends in helping the little pigs build homes of their own, but beware, the big bad Wolf is on the prowl. Can you help save the day and stop the wolf blowing all the pigs hard work away?

A colourful and fun interactive show, full of props, pop ups and audience participation! The children help identify farm produce, sing and take part as the animals on the farm.

This show is ideal for literacy topics including rhyming, traditional tales and retelling stories. It’s ideal for PSHE and science topics such as healthy eating as children have to identify fruits and vegetables, harvest food from fields in the farm and learn about animals living on the farm (and even some not found on a farm!).

Running time: 45 minutes

Stockwood Discovery Centre

Stockwood Discovery Centre tells the stories of real people behind the collections, exploring the history of the region from prehistoric times to the evolution of Stockwood House and the Farley estate.

The display collections include:

  • Geology
  • Archaeology
  • Social history
  • Rural crafts

Highlights include:

  • The Wenlok Jug - a rare medieval masterpiece with strong links to Luton’s history
  • Luton's last tram
  • The award winning display of Mossman collection of carriages - the largest collection of its kind on display in the UK.

A paradise for garden enthusiasts, Stockwood Discovery Centre is one of the few places in the country where the work of acclaimed artist Ian Hamilton Finlay can be seen on permanent display. His Improvement Garden is a classical garden in which the sculptures are an integral part of the landscape. Once part of the original Stockwood House walled areas, the Period Gardens reflect the changing styles of gardening in this country. New areas include a contemplative Sensory Garden, a colourful World Garden and a Medicinal Garden highlighting the usefulness of plants - designed with environmentally green and sustainable principles in mind.
